Large Save Files Take Longer To Save

Some of our players who have been playing for several months may start to see some items / quests not saving correctly when they exit the game.  This is due to a number of reasons, including having many items decorating their town, which increase the size of the save file.  As the save file gets larger, the game will take longer to write to the servers.  With iOS 7, immediately force-quitting the app through your device's multi-tasking menu (double-tapping the Home button) will prevent the game from communicating with our servers, and many of the tasks you've performed will need to be repeated when you return to the game.

To minimize save errors, and make sure that large save files connect properly to the server:

  1. When you've finished your play session, exit the game by tapping the Home button once.

If you decide to force-quit the app, please wait at least 30 seconds to do so, and this will minimize the chance that your game has not connected with our servers.  We will continue to take steps to accommodate larger save files in our next update.

I’m unable to send gifts

With the recent update to the game (version 1.8.0.3), our sharing and social features are undergoing some changes.  Gifting has been temporarily removed, and will be reintroduced in a future update.  We've made sharing more rewarding by offering special decorations that you're not able to get any other way, but sending gifts to friends is not currently available in the game.  Keep your eyes peeled for updates!

Energy doesn’t seem to regenerate

A new addition to the game was the ability to instantly clean up a limited amount of trash per hour.  Each piece collected uses 10% of the meter, and energy regenerates at a rate of 25% per hour.  There is a known issue, however, that the energy meter will not regenerate correctly if the game is left on screen while the device is locked (owning Hot Dog allows for unlimited energy, so players who have him should not be affected).  In order to ensure that your energy meter refreshes properly, make sure to tap the Home button to exit the game, rather than locking your device.  This workaround is only temporary, and a permanent fix will be addressed in our next update.

Upgrade quests aren’t able to be completed - Fixed

With the recent update to the game (version 1.8.0.3), we are aware that there are a number of upgrade quests that will not register complete even though the building info panel shows it to be at max level.  Our development team is working hard to address this, and these quests will be fixed as soon as possible.

Decorations for quests aren’t found in the store - Fixed

With the recent update to the game (version 1.8.0.3), there have been a number of decorations that were removed from the store that are required for some of the game’s quests.  The items required to complete these quests will be updated over the next few days, so that all of the items required will be available.

Sundial timer does not appear to refresh properly - Fixed

There is a known issue with the sundial timer refresh calculation.  With our most recent update, the sundial timer will reset at midnight UTC, rather than midnight for your local time zone.  The reward you collect daily from the sundial only advances upon successful collection, so that means that if you have missed completing a day, you will have a chance the next day to receive the same prize.  No content will be missed by missing a collection from the sundial; the timer is just reset to start the next day's activation cycle.

Sale purchases don’t give me my bonus kisses

When launching the game, sometimes promotions are available to make purchases with a bonus.  These promotions are only available when making the purchase through the promotion, and not when purchasing the item through the store.  Depending on your connection, sometimes the iTunes store will not respond as quickly as making a purchase through the game’s store, and time-outs can be more frequent.  If you don’t receive your bonus kisses right away, don’t panic!  Before contacting Customer Support, try the following:

  • Tap the device Home button.
  • Wait 20 seconds (just to make sure your game is saved correctly!).
  • Force-quit the game.
  • Open the game again.
  • Any successful purchases are double-checked to make sure they have been downloaded, and may be added immediately.  If not, keep following these steps.
  • In the in-app purchase store menu, tap the item you’ve purchased again.  If iTunes has confirmed the purchase, but you haven’t downloaded it yet, you will see a prompt asking you to download it (if the game prompts you with a “Buy” button, don’t tap it or you will be charged for a new purchase!).
  • If you’re still missing promotional purchases, please contact support through the in-game Support button.

Facebook problems

If you’ve previously associated your game with Facebook, and are having trouble viewing your friends lists within the game, check the following:

  • In your device’s iOS Settings menu, ensure that Facebook permissions are turned ON for Archie Game
  • In Facebook’s App Center, ensure that Facebook permissions are turned ON for Archie Game
  • Make sure that you’re logged into Facebook in the game!  Go to Options, and make sure the Facebook button is lit with a green light.  If it’s not, tap the button to log in.
  • Have you changed your Facebook password recently?  If so, you will need to delete and reinstall the game app.  You will be prompted to load your Facebook save as soon as you log in again.

Multiple quests appearing that all require the same character

Because of on-going additions to quest content in the game, some players may see a lot of quests for a particular character show up immediately after an update.  This is because quests are being added into various storylines throughout the game, and your game may have reached a point where all of the prerequisite quests needed to unlock new content have already been met, causing them to be available right away.  This mainly affects players who have reached level 18+, since many additional quests were added earlier in the game.  Newer players to the game should see these quests popping up more gradually, to balance out character use throughout the entire game.  We apologize for any confusion this has caused, but it means that the players who have been with us for a while are not missing any of the new stuff we’ve added!

Unable to collect building upgrade achievements - Fixed

There is a known issue with the building upgrade achievements, which can show your game is missing several buildings upgraded to level 2 or higher, even though all of your available buildings are upgraded as high as possible.  This issue is currently being addressed by our development team, and will be patched in an upcoming iTunes update.

Posting to Twitter from Completed Quests - Fixed

There is a known issue with Archie: Riverdale Rescue where posting to Twitter is unavailable from a completed quest.  Tapping the Twitter button will not award the +5 XP reward, and a post to Twitter is not sent.  Tweeting from level up or relationship pop-up is not affected, however, and you should still see your tweets and rewards as normal.

Inventory Items Seem to Disappear - Fixed

With our previous version (v1.3.7), some players told us they returned to the game to find they were missing items from their inventory.  While this appears to be fixed with the latest version in the iTunes store now, it may still be possible to lose items that have been in your inventory from the previous version.  Placing the items into the world, then returning them to your inventory should prevent any items from disappearing, while upgrading to the latest game version.  If you’ve lost any items that you made in-app purchases to buy, please contact us immediately through the in-game support button (Menu>Options>Support>Email).

Loading Screen prompts a “Slow Connection” message

We recommend playing Archie: Riverdale Rescue on a strong wifi connection, to maintain connection with our servers.  If the game doesn’t get a strong connection on the loading screen, you may see a message that appears regarding a “Slow Connection.”  This is normal, and your game has not lost contact with the servers.  There are various game files that are checked and updated when you start to play (especially right after you install), and if the game can’t do those checks within 2 minutes, you will see this message.  Depending on your connection, you may see this message several times on the loading screen.  If a “Connection Error” message appears, you may have lost the connection with our servers, and will be prompted to reconnect.

Facebook support while upgrading from Canadian launch version (1.2.1) to US launch version (1.3.5.3) - Fixed

The current version of Archie: Betty or Veronica allows a single Facebook account to be attached to multiple games.  When upgrading to the new version, a Facebook account will only be attached to one game.  This will allow you to play the same Archie: Betty or Veronica game across multiple devices by attaching them to Facebook.  If you are currently playing the game on two different devices with the same Facebook account you are able to keep both games if you disassociate one of them from Facebook.

NOTE:  A Facebook account is only necessary to use the same save game data across multiple devices (Example:  Continuing progress from your iPad on your iPhone while you're at work, etc.)

I would like to play one game on more than one device.

    1. Only one of the saved games can remain tied to Facebook with the new update, so you must decide which save game you want associated to Facebook. Choose that device to start. Upgrade the app to the latest version.

    2. Launch the app on the device with the save game you want tied to your Facebook account.

    3. Once the app has finished updating, a Facebook authorization page will appear asking: "You have already authorized Archie: Betty or Veronica?" Tap "OK".

    4. For the saved game on the second device, again upgrade Archie: Betty or Veronica to the latest iTunes version.

    5. Launch the app on the second device.

    6. Once the app has finished updating, a Facebook authorization page will appear stating: "You have already authorized Archie: Betty or Veronica?" Tap “OK”.

WARNING: This will erase all progress, including purchases, from the second device.

    1. After choosing “OK” to the Facebook prompt, the app with a pop up that states: "Existing Save: Do you want to overwrite your current save or load your last cloud save?" Tap "Load".

    2. A second pop up will appear stating: "Load Save? The game you are currently playing will be replaced with your game saved in the cloud. Are you sure?" Tap "Yes".

    3. The app will now load your saved game, which is attached to your Facebook account

I would like to keep both of my previous save games.

  6. Your second device’s game will have to be unlinked from Facebook:

  7. For the saved game on the second device, again upgrade Archie: Betty or Veronica to the latest iTunes version.

  8. Launch the app on the second device.

  9. Once the app has finished updating, a Facebook authorization page will appear stating: "You have already authorized Archie: Betty or Veronica?" Tap "Cancel".

  10. The game will reload; this will load your second saved game, which is no longer tied to your Facebook account.

Loading Facebook saves without reinstalling the app

If Facebook permissions are given to the game at any point after upgrading to v1.3.5.3, and then removed through Facebook App Center, it is not possible to associate the game to a second Facebook account simply by logging into that account through the game. The game must be deleted and reinstalled before it can be linked to another Facebook account.

Network time-outs while connecting to iTunes - purchases don’t download when the app reloads.

It is recommended that the game is played with a good wi-fi connection, but it is possible to play while on a slower cellular data network. If you’re making an in-app purchase over a connection with slower speeds and the connection with iTunes times out, your purchase may not download immediately when the game resets. In this case, it is recommended that you force-quit the game and launch the app again after network conditions improve. Any successful purchases will then be automatically downloaded when you resume your game.
